LOAN OFFICER - JOB DESCRIPTION

Washington State

SUMMARY:

Mortgage Lending Company (MLG) loan officers are responsible for the origination of the sales of loan products. Loan officers proactively solicit and self-source new residential mortgage loans in compliance with and to meet the company’s loan quality, client servicing, and production goals.  Loan officers are required to conduct sales and engage in sales activities in a variety of settings, including and away from your MLG regular place of business.

Essential Job Functions:

Responsible for customer interaction between all parties involved on each loan from application to closing. This includes counseling and prequalifying potential home buyers; taking complete and accurate applications; obtaining all necessary documents; overseeing the loan status; and obtaining loan documentation after closing as directed by management.

Must comply with MLG company policies and procedures and all applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, guidelines, and other requirements of the mortgage banking industry.

Establishes, develops, and maintains positive relationships with existing and potential veteran and military customers.

8 Develops, maintains, and monitors relationships with client referral sources, including realtors and brokers, builders, developers, financial advisors, and other referral sources to generate mortgage leads with new and existing customers.

Writes sales reports, plans, and engage in marketing and promotional activities that support sales goals.

Stays on top of trends, changes, and developments in their local real estate market.

Participates in ongoing individual and company-sponsored training programs to learn new and different sales techniques.

Monitors what competitors are doing by keeping up-to-date with changing rules, regulations, and guidelines from VA, FHMA, FHLMC, and FHA, in addition to other investors and agencies.

Stays informed of all origination, processing, appraisal, underwriting, and closing requirements for both MLG and investor guidelines on both government and privately insured mortgages.

Negotiates price, terms, and conditions with mortgagors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a current and active NMLS in good standing.

Must have amazing organizational skills with strong attention to the details.

Bachelor's degree from
a four-year college 
or university.

Two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience as a loan originator.

MORTGAGE LOAN PROCESSOR - JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY:

Mortgage Lending Group (MLG) Loan Processors are responsible for preparing and processing retail mortgage loans from the time of application through final approval, while maintaining contact with all internal and external parties, and receiving/reviewing all necessary documents. They must work within compliance of bank, regulatory, and investor guidelines and while meeting MLG customer service standards. This position entails communication with customers, internal staff, brokers, counsel, title companies, and more while responding to inquiries, resolving issues as they arise, and obtaining all necessary paperwork.

Essential Job Functions:

Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) on processing policies, guidelines, procedures, and technology.

Reviews Closing Disclosure / Settlement statement for accuracy and provides to the closing agent.

Conducts daily review and follow-up with customers and investors regarding outstanding items and gathers necessary documentation as needed.

Communicates and reports to the Processing Supervisor.

Reviews title reports, payoffs, appraisals, income documents, hazard insurance, and all supporting conditions for required standard compliance before underwriter submission.

Provides customer and closing agent with requirements and coordinates scheduling for loan closing completion.

Communicates with key stakeholders, including Branch Manager, Loan Consultants, and customers regarding the status of items.

Attends regular pipeline meetings and system training updates.

Manages key dates, including lock expiration, contingency date, contract date, credit doc expiration, ECOA, MDIA, and other compliance-related dates.

This position is considered a non-loan originator position. This means participants may not engage in activities of a loan originator, including communicating directly with borrowers about credit qualification or loan terms, including pricing concessions or other transaction-specific terms or conditions.

Performs data entry to update all internal computer systems and loan files with notes regarding all actions that affect the loan per MLG requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Two to three years’ experience 
in retail processing.

Thorough knowledge of loan processing and closing policies, procedures, documents, underwriting requirements, governmental and agency requirements, terminology, and automated processing systems.
